The Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia (YBAM) wish to express its deepest concern on the recent disastrous attack at Qinghai, China. We hereby call upon all members of the society to render our help in collecting donation to ease the unfortunate situation.

(Petaling Jaya,10 March) Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia (YBAM)’s fund raising to Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund has reached RM100,159.35 since its launched on 11 February 2010. The 1st batch of its collected fund of RM90,109.35 has been rendered to the Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation (BCRTCF). While the 2nd batch of the collected fund will also be rendered to BCRTCF together with the other 40 participating Buddhist organizations in the forthcoming fund raising activities.

It was warmly received by Buddhist associations and well-wishers who generously donated to the fund. YBAM is grateful to the Buddhist associations and kind supporters.

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia: The Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia (YBAM) will be hosting the ASEAN International Buddhist Youth Exchange (ASEAN IBYE) Programme themed “Joy, Fellowship, Leadership” on 1-10 January 2010. The programme is jointly hosted by Subang Jaya Buddhist Asssociation (SJBA), Fo Guang Shan Malaysia, Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society Malaysia, Seck Kia Eenh Malacca, Shah Alam Buddhist Society (SABS), YBAM Kuala Lumpur/Selangor State Liaison Committee.

YBAM’S RESPONSE TO “COW HEAD INCIDENT”

The Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia (YBAM) strongly deplores the “cow head incident” that happened in Shah Alam recently in relation to the issue of relocation of a Hindu temple in Section 23. The Hindu temple in Section 23 was built during the earlier stage of development of Shah Alam, and had become the place for worship for the Hindus residing in the area.

Dr. Mohd Ridhuan Tee published an article titled “Nasib Melayu di bumi Melayu” in Utusan Melayu on the 26th July 2009. Part of Dr. Tee’s article mentioned that if the Buddha were still around, he would have criticized those who support the legalization of the late Teoh Beng Hock’s unborn child.

We, the following Buddhist organisations, refer to the recent newspaper advertisement on the major Chinese dailies regarding various events to be organized by Persekutuan Agama Buddha Tantrayana Chen Foh Chong Malaysia (The True Buddha School) and presided by Lu Sheng Yan, which will be held in various venues in Kuala Lumpur.
