“Youth Say No to Violence” Campaign

In conjunction with the celebration of Hari & Minggu Belia Negara 2007, Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia (YBAM) will be organizing “Youth Say No to Violence” Campaign from May 5 to 18. This campaign is co-organized by MBM and supported by Ministry of Youth and Sport, and Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation.

The campaign was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport Dato’ Liow Tiong Lai at SJK(C) Khai Mun Repas, Bentong, Pahang on 5 May 2007. Other attending guests of honor were President of Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia, Mr. Liau Kok Meng and his deputy, Mr. Yeap Geim Hwa, “Youth Say No to Violence” Campaign Committee Chairman, Mr. Chua Teck Seong, President of Bentong Buddhist Association, Mr. Liew Boon Ling, and representative from Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation, Major(Rtd) Choong Lik Choo.

The committee had also organized a kick-off concert the same night to promote public awareness towards the dangers of violence-related behavior. The concert was made lively by attendees of nearly one thousand in number, where message akin to non-violence and understanding communication, were transpired through music, dharma, and multimedia performances.
